Job Description

The sound technician is primarily responsible for sound reinforcement and recording for the weekly worship service on Sunday, including sound for the online streaming content from the church website.

Duties

  • Run Behringer X32 sound board for 11 a.m. worship service each Sunday morning
  • Arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. each Sunday to work with praise band and presentation team (individuals running ProPresenter and video recording) prior to service
  • Occasional work on Wednesday evening or Saturday to prepare for special musical presentations

Supervision: The sound technician works under the direct supervision of the Minister of Music. All employment evaluations and decisions are made by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee in consultation with the Minister of Music. 

Salary/Benefits: Salary is $100/week and is paid bi-weekly. In the event of either planned or unplanned absence, a competent replacement must be provided. As this is a part-time position, no benefits are available. Nursery is provided for all services and rehearsals if needed. When extra rehearsals or other events outside services are required, these will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

Education/Experience: Although an Associates or Bachelor of Music degree in sound production is preferred, consideration will be given to those with significant experience in lieu of the degree requirement or who are currently studying in the indicated degree areas. 

Other Requirements: The sound technician is expected to possess a personal relationship with Christ regardless of denominational affiliation and to meet requirements of the Ministry Safe Policy of the church and the UMC.  Strong interpersonal skills, a pleasant demeanor and a team spirit are essential.
