Job Description
The Technical Arts Director will manage all of the audio, video and lighting systems on campus; staff and train volunteers to run AVL systems for services and events; and oversee and facilitate the campus-wide IT efforts of the church.
Qualifications
- College degree
- Strong personal faith and a Biblical foundation that aligns with First Methodist Carrollton
- Proficiency in a variety of technological fields, including VoIP telephony, wireless configuration, IT security, and both Windows and Mac computers
- Experience operating & maintaining AVL systems
Responsibilities
Technical Arts
- Recruit, create documentation/training materials, and train volunteer teams to facilitate cameras, livestreams, live video switching, ProPresenter, and house/stage lights for services
- Re-set AV equipment on stage to facilitate sanctuary use for groups and special events
- Coordinate AV support for special events, weddings, funerals
- Oversee AVL production team for Sunday Services
- Coordinate with Audio Engineer to assure stage is reset for worship and that direct boxes, mics, IEMs, are in place and correctly labeled for each service or event
- Manage, verify integrity, and schedule livestreams for social media platforms
- Manage, maintain & service AVL equipment
- Working knowledge of industry standards of AVL equipment and ability to work effectively with vendors for the installation and commissioning of new equipment as needed
Information Technology
- Responsible for hands-on, day-to-day building-wide IT operations
- Develop and adhere to a budget for the church’s technological needs
- Develop a plan for life-cycle management of computer and network hardware
- Provide technical support for digital communications (including website)
- Oversee routine maintenance on the church’s network (sometimes outside of normal work hours)
- Manage the church’s relationship with technological vendors
- Look at future church technology trends and make recommendations to the church leadership on steps moving forward

Information Technology
- Microsoft and all of its applications
- Networking & Wi-Fi management experience
- Familiarity with both Mac & PC systems
