Job Description

This position is the hub of the church. The Office Manager is responsible for much of the background and behind the scenes work that helps the church and its ministry to grow and create disciples. This includes, doing administrative work, provide support to the pastor, helping each ministry with their work, being the hub of communication for the church as a whole and helping anyone who may come through the door or call. Each of these interactions help to support the ministry of the church, staff and congregation as they create disciples for the transformation of the world.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or some college experience
  • Some experience and knowledge of church procedures
  • Some understanding of United Methodist polity and theology
  • Some understanding of Spanish would be preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • The successful candidate must be a Christian and fully support the philosophy of the United Methodist Church and leadership team at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church
  • The ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations as well as the ability to work independently is required
  • Must possess solid time management skills and organizational skills. Being detailed oriented and coordinate several activities and concerns of the staff and congregation is essential
  • The ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with the staff, the congregation, and any visitors to the church, conveying a genuine concern for all individuals, and a desire to provide exceptional service, is essential for this position
  • The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have a passion for the church as a whole, hardworking, and have a servant’s heart. They should be flexible, have a strong ability to work with people, and have an excitement for diverse communities of people
  • The candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Elexio Community Database and Wordpress or an equivalent platform or program

Responsibilities

  • Creating and sending out of newsletter and worship bulletin each week
  • Maintaining and updating the bulletin boards in the hallway
  • Paying bills and giving treasurer invoices for the church
  • Maintaining and managing the calendar
  • Helping bolster communications within and outside the church
  • Assisting the pastor and other staff members as needed
